How to Safely Remove Your Waterproof Mascara

Waterproof mascara. An absolute lifesaver in sweltering summer days, helping you stay fab during gushy wedding speeches and designed to last through your 24-hour study-sessions. But you’re ready for bed, and your lashes are still ready to party!

Waterproof mascara is developed with one thing in mind: to stay on no matter what. While we love the commitment, unsafe removal of waterproof mascara can irritate your eyes and compromise your lash line. How do you remove waterproof mascara without damaging your lashes? LashCat can help you out!

Permanent Clingy Ink Is Only For Tattoos!

Wearing waterproof mascara is perfectly safe, but removing them improperly can actually damage your lashline.

We love anything lash-related, and most importantly, we want our customers to enjoy beauty products without having to worry about pain! We compiled 4 tips on how you can continuously grow healthy lashes while reaping the benefits of a smudge-free waterproof mascara. How you can safely remove your waterproof mascara without hurting a lash on your face:

  1. Soak a cotton pad in makeup remover and apply it to each eye. The first thing you need to do is to be gentle with your eyes. Waterproof mascara can be abrasive and irritate your lash line, and a cotton pad can prevent any discomfort. Our Lash Cleanser is designed to remove waterproof mascara, preventing eye infections and irritations. Leave cotton pad on for 5 to 10 seconds and move on to tip #2.
  2. Swipe downward and towards the end of your lashline. While tip #1 helped you saturate your lashes in a gentle formula, tip #2 is where you actually remove the mascara. Gently use the cotton pad and swipe the mascara away from the inner corner of your eyes. The oil-based remover has enabled your lashes to become soft and can let you remove the mascara without hurting your lashes.
  3. Use a Q-tip to remove excess gunk. The Q-tip is a friend of the face for many reasons, including eliminating any left-over waterproof mascara. Gently swab the Q-tip between the lashes to remove any mascara that might have been left over.
  4. Finish with a lash serum. The skin around your eye is 10 times more sensitive than the one on your body. Skip the aggressive scrubbing to ensure all the waterproof texture is gone, and apply a professional serum!
