A good adhesive is every lash tech’s secret for a flawless and long lasting lash application. First of all, you should be using a top of the line adhesive, like the Lash Cat Expert Glue. In order to keep your adhesive fresh and performing at its top quality, you should be replacing your adhesive every 6 weeks after opening the container. 6 weeks goes by a lot quicker than you think, so try labelling your bottles once they’ve been opened to remember when you should be switching over to a brand new one!
During those six weeks, here are a few tips and tricks you can follow to get the most out of your adhesive:
CLEANLINESS
Keep the top of the adhesive bottle clean!! Throughout the application process use a disposable makeup sponge to clean up any glue on the bottle. This prevents any buildup or clogging from occurring. Do not use any materials with natural fibres to clean the top of the bottle up, such as q-tips, as they can get stuck and have the potential to produce heat or even a fire.
TEMPERATURE
You should always store your adhesive at room temperature, ideally between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the perfect temperature for storage and it will help the adhesive maintain the perfect consistency!
SUNLIGHT
Store all of your adhesives out of direct sunlight! Sunlight can raise the temperature and change the composition of the glue. If you’re finding your glue has become too thick or too runny, this could be the reason why. It can also change the chemical compounds in the adhesive and negatively affect the performance of the glue during applications. A glue left out in direct sunlight will change in consistency and won’t form a proper bond between the lash and the extensions. If you’re using improperly stored glue this can result in your clients’ extensions falling off prematurely.
HUMIDITY
When adhesive is exposed to moisture it solidifies, this is why we recommend using the Nano Mister during applications to cure the lashes and strengthen the bond. However, you don’t want the adhesive to be exposed to water while it is in the bottle. Since water is in the air around us, it is important that you keep the lid on your adhesive and store it in a dry place. If you live in a humid climate, we recommend storing your adhesive in a Tupperware container of rice to absorb any moisture. Just remember to change the rice about once a month to keep it fresh!
